MD Connector Competition Finalists & Semifinalists Announced

We are excited to announce that after much deliberation by our judging panel, the finalists for the MD Connector 2009 Competition on Health Education Reform have been selected.

These finalists will compete for placement during the 2009 Health Care Education Symposium at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN April 26-28, 2009.

New supplementary advice for medical schools The GMC is providing medical schools with additional advice on how to help prepare medical students for clinical practice and the Foundation Programme. These are advisory documents to help medical schools implement the requirements in Tomorrow’s Doctors (2009). Clinical placements for medical students (pdf) sets out what medical students can expect from their placements and Student Assistantships, in which they act as an assistant to a junior doctor during their final year

Study Investigates Medical Students And The Information Resources They Use

A fifth-year student at the Peninsula Medical School has successfully applied for funding from the Higher Education Academy (HEA) in order to carry out a study regarding medical students and the information resources they use. Student Sarah Edwards, in collaboration with members of staff from the Peninsula Medical School, scored an impressive 93 per cent for her application, seeing off stiff competition from applicants from around the UK. Medical students and doctors require an understanding of evidence-based medicine and how to implement it..
