Introduction: Post 9/11, The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) recommended that medical school curriculums include education on Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) events (biologic, chemical, physical, radiological) and response (roles, responsibilities, team coordination). A survey of 3rd year medical students (MS) rotating on a trauma rotation at a Level 1 trauma center (L1TC) in 2005 and 2007 highlighted significant deficiencies in disaster response and management. We hypothesize that current disaster preparedness education is inadequate at all MS levels even at a medical school with a L1TC.
