On the long and sometimes tortuous path to becoming a doctor, every student can identify people whose advise and expertise helped direct his or her journey. Certainly receiving such advise is important to the student finding his way. It can be just as rewarding, however, for the mentor giving the advise. Such mentoring is a great way for a doctor or medical student to honor the people who helped him get to where he is today. Because mentoring can be mutually beneficial, we at MD Connector wish to facilitate such a program among our members.
The goal of our mentorship program is to connect a student in our network, whether premed or medical, to a mentor. Premeds mentees can be paired with medical student or physician advisors while medical students can be paired with more senior medical students or physicians. We match students based on what they our looking for in a mentor. This program is unique because it is not limited by schools or regions. The MD Connector network runs across the country, ensuring that students are matched based on their interests and goals rather than where they currently go to school.
